Secretarial

A few months ago I was discussing an idea with Rod about an electric guitar that was digitally tunable. The thought was to have a guitar with a locking tremolo (whammy bar) that once in standard tuning (EADGBE); was able to be adjusted semi-tonally one octave up or down from each string.

To a guitar player this kind of instrument would be an advantage because as long as the guitar was in standard tuning, it could be quickly tuned up or down ½ a tone or even open chord tunings or hybrids. This is time consuming with a normal bridge let alone with a locking tremolo, which doesn’t allow for the machine heads to be adjusted without Allen keys to unclamp the neck.

I explained to Rod that the natural harmonic of the “A” string played over the fifth fret was 440 Hz and that all other strings were tuned around that frequency. I asked if he knew what the formula was to work out the frequencies at one semi-tone increments for twelve semi-tones up from 440 Hz (one octave).

He came back with the following.

The twelfth root of two (12Ö2)

A = 440 Hz

A# = A (440 Hz) X 12Ö2 = 466.1637614 Hz

B = A# X 12Ö2 = 493.8833009 Hz

C = B X 12Ö2 = 523.2511301 Hz

C# = C X 12Ö2 = 554.3652612 Hz

D = C# X 12Ö2 = 587.3295348 Hz

D# = D X 12Ö2 = 622.2539662 Hz

E = D# X 12Ö2 = 659.2551123 Hz

F = E X 12Ö2 = 698.456461 Hz

F# = F X 12Ö2 = 739.9888432 Hz

G = F# X 12Ö2 = 783.9908693 Hz

G# = G X 12Ö2 = 830.6093921 Hz

A = G# X 12Ö2 = 879.9999964 (880) Hz

This formula is proven by the fact that when the next A note (one octave higher) is reached, it is exactly twice the frequency as the previous A note. With this in mind it should be quite easy to digitally produce the semi-tones now that we mathematically know what they are.

JOE CELL TESTS

This is the forth in a series of articles written by ASTRO member Bruce about his Joe Cell research here in south Australia.

THE JOE CELL TESTS PART 4 November 1999

Wednesday 1/9/99: I fitted a cell given to me to try on my car. This cell is different to any others I have tried before in that the centre electrode (negative) is made of a 2 inch carbon rod while the outer stainless steel tube (positive) is 4 inches in diameter. There are no neutral tubes in this cell and the whole thing sits inside a container of plastic sewer pipe. The bottom is flat and the top cone is made of aluminium. This cell also has three containers, fitted at 120 degrees apart half way up the cell, and filled with crushed crystal. The whole unit was given to me charged with water.

Monday 6/9/99: Nothing much happened until today when I began the daily 100km round trip associated with getting to work and back. After long down hill runs, on hitting the accelerator, large quantities of oil smoke belched from the exhaust. Also when the engine was restarted after stopping somewhere, the same thing occurred. This is very symptomatic of worn valve stem oil seals of which the engine was suffering to a minor degree, but the problem was now tenfold!

Tuesday 7/9/99: This smoky situation continued today and was getting worse to the point where sitting at traffic lights idling, I was disappearing in a smoke screen. Definitely defectable material

Wednesday 8/9/99: When I arrived home I removed the cell, and discharged the engine of any residual charge by sparking the positive battery volts on to the block with a piece of wire. (I did this discharge process as from previous experience I have found that any effects from the cell seem to last about three days)

Thursday 9/9/99: The car was back to normal with almost no smoke again.

Monday 27/9/99: Even though the cell had not been in the car for 19 days, the engine began to smoke again.

Tuesday 28/9/99: I left it until the Tuesday night, by which time it was really bad, then discharged the block again. Once again the next morning, no smoke.

It appears that the charge had slowly built up again in the engine, even though the cell had not been near it. This effect is a bit like shorting out a large capacitor which will over time slowly regain some of it’s former charge. My next step is to replace the valve stem oil seals and fit the cell again to see whether there is smoke or no smoke! If there is no smoke then it would appear that if the engine has an oil sealing “weakness” then it could be amplified by the cell. If it still smokes then this would agree with Joe’s 1993 reckoning that a plastic outer container on a cell “will cause the motor to pollute”.

Saturday 2/10/99: Fitted new valve stem oil seals, but the car continued to build up a smoky exhaust over the next week and a half.

Wednesday 13/10/99: Discharged the block once again and all traces of smoky exhaust disappeared.

Tuesday 26/10/99: Smoke had built up, repeated discharge procedure, and all OK once again.

Wednesday 3/11/99: Smoke had built up, repeated discharge procedure, and all OK once again.

Sunday 14/11/99: Smoke was once again building up, so this time as well as discharging the block using the battery positive, I replaced the water in the block/radiator.

Sunday 21/11/99: So far the smoke problem has not reoccurred which seems to suggest that the charge was remaining and building up again in the water. This is in agreement with Alex’s theory that the orgone is attracted to the water in the block.

Victor's March Websearch

At our last Astro meeting I discussed putting the Aether Theories in our newsletter however after some discussion with the editor it was deceided that hundreds of pages may be a little too long even if we break it up for the next 10 years (see index at http://www.magna.com.au/~prfbrown/aether.html ). So we will give the web site instead and for those who do not have internet access you san go to you local library or make friends with someone who has. Instead we have simple instructions for a gravity wave generator. If you require any assistance in assembling one I would be happy to give you any assistance that you may require. Don't be caught without one.
Vic.

Gravity Wave Generation:

By Ron Heath

My gravity wave generator is a capacitor like the ones invented by Thomas Townsend Brown.
The capacitor is driven by a high voltage AC source (3 to 4Kv) at 7Khz.

The Capacitor:

The upper plate of the capacitor is a umbrella shaped dome around seven inches across, it is made out of aluminum foil. The lower plate is a dome around two inches in diameter and shaped like a half-sphere, also made out of aluminum foil. The upper and lower plates are separated by three each, 4.5 inch long tubes made by rolling up thin cardboard sheets (1 inch wide by 4.5 inches long, rolled to around 1/4 inch diameter, then held by scotch tape). Each of the three tubes connects between the rim of the top plate to the rim of the bottom plate (attached by hot glue).

The two plates are arranged so that both of the enclosed spaces (the part where the handle of the umbrella would be) are facing downwards. Both of the plates are centered on a line perpendicular to the bottom plane of one of the plates (if the bottom plate is placed on a table, 90 degrees from the table there is an imaginary line that intersects the center of both plates).

The High Voltage Supply:

This is composed of three parts: oscillator, driver, auto-transformer.

The oscillator is a 555 timer IC connected to an active low pass filter so that a 7Khz sine wave is produced. If you don't know how to make one, just buy a function generator that will output a sine wave.

The driver is a 120 watt car stereo amplifier connected to a 20 amp 13.5 volt power supply (just use a car battery). The oscillator is connected to one channel through a potentiometer to allow volume control (the other channel input is grounded. The output of the driven channel is connected to the auto-transformer, while the other channel is connected to an 8 ohm resistor. You can use a speaker instead of a resistor, this is just so that the drivers inside of the amplifier have a load on both channels.

For an auto-transformer I used a car coil. The terminal that connects to the case is connected to both the output of the amplifier and to one plate of the capacitor. the other plate of the capacitor connects to the spark plug wire terminal. Do not ground either wire from the amplifier.

A 10:1 voltage divider is connected across the capacitor, and a 10:1 probe is used on the scope. The frequency is adjusted for maximum output voltage (resonant frequency). The resonant frequency of my coil is 7Khz, but others may be different. The range of the detector is 10Hz to 20Khz, so this frequency is not critical. The output voltage is adjusted so that it is just below clipping (where the sine wave distorts and the coil begins to make noise).

The Secret Super High Mileage Report
Chapter 6 (Part One)
Pogue carburator

As you can see it wasn't long after automobiles began to gain in popularity that the inventors noticed that something wasn't quite kosher with the available carburetion, these patents are all vaporizer carburetors. They are all designed to feed fumes or true gas, not liquid spray to the engine. Some even use heavy oil, reining it right under the hood to produce gas vapor. It is a partial list, included solely to impress on you the time frame involved, the scope of development, and the idea that feeding fumes to an engine is an old and well developed concept with great merit and potential.

PATENT 1938497 DECEMBER 5, 1933 C.N Pogue

"...I have found that in such a carburetor a relatively large amount of the atomized liquid fuel is not vaporized and enters the engine cylinder in the form of microscopic droplets. When such a charge is 'fired' in the engine cylinder only that portion of the liquid fuel which has been converted into the vaporous and consequently the modular state, combines with the air to give an explosive mixture. The remaining portion of the liquid fuel which is drawn into the engine and thereby impart power to the engine, but burns with a flame and raises the temperature of the engine above that at which the engine operates most efficiently, ie. from 160 degrees to 180 degrees F. According to this invention a carburetor for internal combustion engines is provided in which substantially all of the liquid fuel entering the engine cylinder will be in the vapor phase and consequently capable of combining with the air to form a mixture which will explode and impart a maximum amount of power to the engine, and which will not burn and unduly raise the temperature of the engine."If you have been following closely, you will realize that this old patent has stated what some of the latest technical reports only recently disclosed. Namely the gasoline in an engine with a conventional carburetor only partially explodes, some burns and some goes right out the exhaust pipe. This wastes power, causes excessive heat buildup in the engine, carbon deposits on the valves and cylinder heads, and creates massive pollution. Note also the temperature range mentioned 160 to 180 degrees F. Late model cars run at much hotter temperatures than this, mine runs at between 200 and 220 degrees F. You may also gather that, contrary to popular belief, its the force of the explosion not the heat that runs the car. The heat is a by-product. Scientists that measure the energy potential of gasoline by its BTU content are off base. (BTU = British Thermal Unit: the quantity of heat necessary to raise the temperature of one pound of water one degree Fahrenheit.) It hold true for external combustion engines, such as a stream or the sterling engine but not for internal combustion engines such as Bourke, Wankel or piston engine. Some piston engines have used compressed air even freon, that expands with heat not combustion.

PATENT 1972874 SEPTEMBER 11, 1934 ARTHUR EMILL DOBBS

'This invention relates to an apparatus for carbureting appliances which may use as a fuel, volatile liquids. It has long been apparent to those skilled in the art, that the ordinary means in use for today for producing vapor from volatile liquids are, as far as perfect carbureting concerned, defective, highly inefficient, and expensive. The principle reason seems to be that the vapor is, in reality, a mist or wet vapor which does not give quick complete combustion, and, consequently, the result is a diminution of ultimate power. The secondary deleterious effects are the excess formation of carbonaceous deposits, extreme heat, and cutting the lubricating agent. In the case of the ordinary hydrocarbon engine, as used in propelling ships and the like, slow and imperfect combustion caused by improper admixture of the hydrocarbon fuel will, in addition to poor performance, formation of carbonceous deposits, and extreme heat, warp and burn the valves, and cut and dilute the lubricating agent in the crankcase, which later defect always necessitates the trouble and expense of changing the lubricant before it has served its purpose and often results in injury to the entire motor. The same, is true in the case of stationary hydrocarbon engines, both large and small. Where volatile liquids have been converted into gasses for lighting and heating purposes, difficulty has been experienced in obtaining a constant and uniformly suitable flame, because of the poor and changing combustible properties of improper admixture. The ultimate desire has been to produce a gas, the constituents of which will be so thoroughly and uniformly mixed at all times, and under all conditions, as to render combustion, yet to be entirely dry and cold. Heretofore, it has been customary to utilize heat in producing the gas. This has been found to be highly disadvantageous and unnecessary.

The advantage resulting from the use of my method and apparatus are manifold. The power produced by such appliances is tremendously increased. The tendencies toward carbonaceous deposits after exploding or burning the gas are reduced to a minimum. The possibility of the leakage of raw fuel into the lubricating agent of a hydrocarbon engine, for example, to cause dilution is eliminated; and the decrease in heat created because of the cold gas is astounding, so that with the proper consistency of gas, it is possible to modify the cooling systems now used by hydrocarbon engines."

A bit pretentious in wording, but the content is consistent with Pogue's statements, this particular unit uses the same principle as many others, nothing more than having the having the intake air bubble up through the gasoline to pick up vapors prior to its introduction to the engine. Although I feel that the Dobbs unit may have been more effective back then in the thirties since the gasoline produced at that time was of much lower octane, and hence more volatile, and would more readily evaporate in this type of system than current fuels.

PATENT 3294381 DECEMBER 27, 1966 ARNOLLD.H SCHWARTZ

"The present carburetor, when used for feeding the cylinders of a six cylinder engine of a popular automobile, improved the miles per gallon performances of said engine, during ordinary driving conditions over 200%."

That would, on the average, put us over the 60 MPG mark. A figure, I have been told by an engineering student, is impossible to attain. I wonder if he can get a refund from the school? According to books I have read on filing patents, the patent office is pretty careful checking out the claims made by the inventors such as these. I believe that we may be reasonably sure that they are accurate. So why aren't they available in the marketplace? Why indeed. You will notice two of the patents were purchased by the big auto makers. I believe that some of the others were also purchased, but I have not had the resources available at this writing to confirm it.

Apparently there have been many such systems developed in this country that deliver 60 to 90 MPG, and have received limited newspaper coverage. Then nothing is heard of them again. Here is one such example, reprinted in full with the permission of The Post Crescent newspaper in Appleton, Wisconsin, dated May 15, 1980. Twin Cities men claim breakthrough Alco-1 better than gasoline? By Don Castonia SEYMOUR-A pair of Twin Cities men claim to have made a breakthrough in alcohol fuels for automobiles, which they say can five to six times the mileage obtained with gasoline. Thomas Catlin Sr., 160 Gruenwald Ave. Neeah, and Micheal Frank, 332 Grandview Ave., Menasha, say they have achieved 100 MPG with a 1972 Plymouth Duster with a 318 cubic inch V-8 engine using their alcohol blend and their own design replacement for the carburetor. Catlin calls his fuel Alco-1, a mixture of 45% propanol alcohol and 55% water, and has incorporated under the name of Alco-Gas Inc. Earlier this week Catlin sought a building permit from the City Council to construct a building to house his alcohol production facilities at the north end of the city. The permit request was referred to the Public Property Committee to determine whether a previously imposed building moratorium is still in effect.

Wednesday Catlin claimed he could be in production within three weeks after his building is constructed.

He said all alcohol fuel research to date has been geared to the wrong kind of alcohol-ethanol. His research, he said, involves propanol, the most common form of which is isopropyl, a disinfectant and rubbing alcohol.

He said he has been researching and testing his product for nearly a year and has been running a pilot still on a farm near here. That still would be moved to the building he wants to construct. He contends that previous research has misunderstood the source of power in a fuel and has measured it only by its BTU content. This, Catlin said, is only a measure of the heat generated by the burning of the fuel.

The real energy, he said, comes from the conversion of a liquid to a gas state under pressure with the release of hydrogen and oxygen atoms as water vapor and the carbon atoms as carbon dioxide. With gasoline, he said, the fuel is burned to rapidly to take advantage of this energy.

Propanol, he said, is better than either methanol or ethanol alcohol because it contains more hydrogen molecules and has a higher octane which results in slower burning.

His process for producing propanol also is cheaper than the conventional still. He says he can make propanol for 40 cents a gallon using waste material, such as whey or vegetable matter.

With solids, he said, he uses a small, lightweight hammer mill to pull the fibers apart. He then treats it with an acid, rather than an enzyme, to convert it to glucose. This, he said, speeds up the process by six times, permitting a higher production volume than with the conventional process. The glucose is then converted to alcohol by enzyme treatment.

Instead of distilling it for purity, Catlin said he simply filters it in the same manner that beer is filtered to remove solid impurities. "Since nobody is going to be drinking this it doesn't have to be distillation pure," he said.

The end product is about 70% alcohol with about 30% water content. He said he doesn't need any higher concentration, which would require distillation and increase the cost, since he is going to add more water to come up with his fuel.

Frank said that while the existing carburetor on a car could be converted to use their Alco-1, it still would not be particularly efficient. To replace the carburetor they have developed what they call an "alcohalater" which bolts on in place of the carburetor. The jets in the alcohalater are only one-third the size of those in a carburetor and the air intake is severely reduced.

Frank said their alcohalater operates somewhat on the principle of fuel injection, a system that would be even better. He said deisel-type fuel injection would be the most efficient method.

Catlin said he has talked with several oil companies and they have expressed interest in the process.

You would think that such a breakthrough would merit national news coverage, wouldn't you? Think again. Check the last line in the story. I wrote to these gentlemen but apparently they are not answering their mail. With all the attention that alcohol is getting you would think that it was something new, it isn't. Prior to WWll Studebaker, General Motors, International Harvester and McCormick-Deering supplied alcohol powered vehicles to the Phillipines and Manilla for their sugar plantations.

Here is an editorial supplied through the coutesy of the Contra Costa Times of Walnut Creek, California, dated May 24, 1979.

THE TIME IS NOW

The costs of the current gasoline shortage are becoming horrendous in a variety of ways that far exceed the economic damage being done the motorist when he pays for fuel- if he can get the fuel.

Only a few days ago, a baby died in the rear of the car as the child's baby-sitter waited in a long gas line. The baby was asphyxiated by exhaust fumes aggravated by a long wait on a scorching hot day.

Reports of violence on those gas lines are replete with horror stories: One of the worst last week described a motorist waiting in line who decided to pick roses from a bush in the front yard of a residence near the service station. When the owner came from his house to remonstrate, the motorist attacked him with a weapon and left the householder seriously injured.

We have seen news photographs and TV news scenes of service station owners wearing pistols and in other cases, brandishing rifles and shotguns. There have been countless reports describing collisions that ranges from fistfights between drivers on the long gas lines to violent assaults and injuries.

Few motorists have escaped the inconveniences created by the shortage of gasoline. Worse yet, even the intelligent peaceful tempers are boiling over-along with cars boiling over as they wait in these lines. These threats are argument by long line frequented by long lines frequently impeding the flow of traffic as simmering driver' cars protrude into traffic lanes creating still other hazards.

On another front, automobile, recreation vehicle and boat sales are down substantially because of buyer weariness about their ability to obtain fuel after making substantial investments. If that condition continues for long because of the gas shortage, unemployment will inevitably result from factory to retailing levels and additional economic blows will be dealt with the American people.

Cities, countries and the state of California itself are going to be hit in their treasuries because of reduced tax revenues from falling sales. All the financial ramifications involved will radiate through our economy subtle ways few will trace directly to the gasoline shortage.

Annoyed gasoline customers are prone to lump the auto- makers together with petroleum firms in their criticism and in past years when fuel was plentiful the two have appeared to have common interests to bind them together.

However, with the threat of a staggering reduction in new car sales, it would appear apparent that for self protection alone, the automobile industry would and should extricate itself and the public from the only noose which is tightening around our ability to function in our daily lives and maintain what's left of the American economy.

General Motors and Chrysler have demonstrated their willingness to supply alcohol-powered vehicles in Brazil. Ford Motor Company is on record supporting alternative fuels legislation in California.

American car makers produced alcohol powered cars and trucks decades ago. They have had the technology at their command for many years. If they hope to stay in a business not manipulated by American and OPEC oil producers and refiners, we recommend to them the time has come to look backwards-if they want to go forward by getting into production of cars using alternative fuels.

It is interesting it note that alcohol. gasoline or any other volatile liquid or gas may be utilized to operate an automobile if property applied with no problems that haven't already been solved, a long time ago.

Peters Page
Astro Meeting 2nd Feb 2000

The well attended meeting was opened by Roger, who extended a warm welcome to everyone. A special welcome was extended to the considerable number of visitors.

Presidents Report…Roger announced to any new or prospective members that the annual subscription was $12.00, pro rata to the end of the financial year. This entitled a member to a printed monthly newsletter and access to the book and video libraries..

Roger…mentioned a Commonwealth Government subsidy on household solar power systems over 450 Watt output. He also mentioned a petition that might be of interest to anyone that that felt strongly against the GST, saying that Ken Grundy from Mt Gambier, PMB 21, SA 5271, will, if you include a 45 cent stamp, post to you a petition form. Apparently, under the constitution, an unpopular law or tax etc. can be repealed if a sufficient number of people sign a petition against it. Mr. Grundy also has an Email site at KGRUNDY@RBM.AU. Roger also mentioned the fact that the price petrol was continually increasing and that there had been renewed adverts for conversions to LPG. He then asked Vic whether there had been any more progress on the water cell project..

Secretaries ReportGeof gave his report and said that the next ASTRO newsletter will incorporate this “Peter’s Page”. He has asked that anyone who wishes to submit any articles for inclusion into the newsletter, to please bring photo copies, to the next meeting..

Vic…said that there had not been much progress on the ‘Water Cell” since the last meeting and then commented on new sources of Energised Water. These could be found on the Scallion Webb pages.. He also commented on a new Damlier Benz hydrogen fuelled car which is apparently achieving efficiencies equivalent to 150 to 200 Mpg. These cars were due to be sold in Europe in three to four years. Honda and Toyota electric cars were also mentioned. Honda apparently has a new car that has a petrol engine that supplies a small battery system. The batteries are also supplemented by returned power from regenerative braking, achieving an economy of approximately 3 Litres per 100 Km.. Toyota’s electric car incorporates a larger battery bank and larger power controls..

Ken…discussed the new look Astro webb page that he has created with the new ASTRO heading, which describes what ASTRO stands for…Alternative Science & Technology Organisation. He also had new layouts for Jan’s, Vic’s and Peter’s pages. Well done Ken! . (Ken…mentioned that photos can be scanned onto the ASTRO web page)

Jan…spoke on the significant number of responses to his Perpetual Motion page, stating that John Collins, the author of Perpetual Motion book, said (via Email) that we have a good site. He has also had good Email from a Russian scientist from the Institute of Theoretical Physics, who said that he had invented a perpetual motion device at nine years of age, and now after his extensive education, hardly even believes in perpetual motion..

Roger…mentioned the coming May 5th. Planetary alignment and asked Ashleigh if he would like to explain.

Ashleigh…said that the conjunction ( specific alignment ) last occurred 6,000 years ago, and probably wouldn’t cause major earth changes, rather a major consciousness shift instead..

Percy…said to look at a article in the Feb - March Nexus magazine, page 15, where an article from world renown ( through her amazingly accurate long term predictions ) Astrometeorologist, Jennifer Lawson. She predicts that we are in for increasingly violent storms, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions over the next two years. Jennifer has published a book, titled “Violent Weather Predictions 2000-2001, Llewellyn, USA, 1999, ISBN 1-56718-414-6 “. For further information see the web sites:- http://www.nexusmagazine.com.au and http://www.newdawnmagazine.com.au .

Ashleigh…continued…with the use of the white-board to explain how solar flares, when they erupt towards the earth, distort the atmosphere and cause stress on our planet. He said that this was explained on the Millenium web-site. He also explained that earthquakes mainly happened during the phase and angle relationships between the sun and Taurus and Leo conjunctions. This stress on our planet also effects us, bringing psychological changes. In this case, he said, it would herald the resurgence in “ grandmother and grandfather values”, with the Taurean Energy embodiment of “Stewardship”..

Bruce…had an article on Area 51 radio frequencies to give away to an interested person He also has constructed a “Tower of Power” based on PHI dimensions, using information from Phillip Callaghan’s book on “Irish Towers of Power “ as a reference..

Ian…explained that “Towers of Power” gathered electrical energy from the atmosphere and put it back into the “Grid”, like trees do. Trees have cells that conduct electricity down into the ground, and increase magnetism in the area..

Andrew…described how he had put one of his ‘Ecovortex” water conditioning devices, hooked up into a circulating loop, with an electric pump, onto a putrid algae ridden spa. After the third day, ( of running the pump 4 - 6 hrs / day) the water was 40% - 50% clearer. After three weeks of the same the spa water was crystal clear. The spa owner had later commented that his moggie (cat) now only preferred to re-hydrate itself from the spa water. Andrew also described an experiment that he had conducted using ordinary and conditioned water. Briefly, light that passed through “ordinary” water produced a very clear and sharply defined light spectrum. However light that was passed through the conditioned water produced a fuzzy shimmering spectrum, possibly suggesting an energy interference. He also said that Bernie’s sister, who is a herbalist, now uses rain-water plus (Ecovortex) conditioned water, instead of Reverse Osmosis water.She claims that it is 100 times more potent!.

Bernie…said that he had been cycling and that he had thrown his sweaty (erghh!) toggs into a bath with this ‘water’, and that after two days (without detergent) they were clean again…Editor’s note…there were quite a few good natured jibes about this last comment. Bernie stated that this water was like a “LIVING ACTIVE THING”.

Vic…had made a “Beck” zapper for an acquaintance (in the medical profession) who had a viral infection that was not responding to any current form of treatment. The Beck device did cure up this infection. .

Dino…mentioned that “micro-hydrin” was micro refined silicone dioxide. It raises the pH of water to 10. [ micro-hydrin is used in oxygen therapy to add oxygen to the body] . He also mentioned that he had heard on the radio that two million people were now dying of AIDS a day. The cost of treating AIDS was $20.00/day in Africa but only 3 cents a day in Thailand. Dino also mentioned some other statistics that he had also heard on the radio. Twenty years ago,( in USA) the average difference between the rich and poor wages was about ten times, but now the difference is about four hundred times. ( no wonder they are now calling for gun controls). Dino also mentioned that the difference between the richest and poorest countries,a hundred years ago, was not very pronounced, where as the difference today was now about forty seven times. [ shades of Noah again? ].

Percy…mentioned that Uli and Pero should be coming back from the USA soon, where they have been looking at GEET machines. Roger …mentioned that Peter Bennett was running another organic gardening course, starting on the 23rd.of Feb. He also mentioned a petition form on genetically modified foods. Ken said that he would put it up on the web..

Guest Speaker

Secrets of Ancient Yoga

Roger … Introduced Louise Wiggins. She has been a Yoga teacher for a long time and is the author of several books on Yoga. She has also released CD’s on relaxation. Louise conducts courses at the Fullarton Park Community Centre on Thursdays and at the Noarlunga Surf Life Saving Club on Tuesday evenings..

Louise …explained that the word Yoga simply meant “to unite all of the aspects of us”. That is body mind and spirit. She told us of it’s early origins, told us ancient yoga stories, had us checking our breathing to monitor our own stress and had us doing some simple yoga exercises. She said that:- “Yoga teaches that a man is like a chariot drawn by horses. The chariot is the body. The horses are the senses. The mind is the driver, driving the chariot in sometimes an undesirable direction. The true Self, however is the passenger, sitting quietly beside the driver. The practices of Yoga help us to gain mastery of the team.
Yoga teaches us that

Editor…The above are also extracts from her book “First Steps to Yoga” Axiom Publishing , 1999, Australia. ISBN: 1 86476 023 0
Louise’s talk was refreshing and very professionally presented. She is herself, a beautiful, mentally and physically fit person, with a light and bubbly spirit. My only regret is that I didn’t hear this talk forty years earlier. Roger …thanked Louise profoundly for coming and Guest Speaking at our ASTRO meeting..

Next meeting …Friday 10th. March Guest Speakers…Ashliegh and Robert, speaking on science and sound..

Until next time
Peter.
